Consistency without a weapon
Na built a long career on accuracy and a superb short game. What he lacked for years was a category where he beat the field decisively.
Players with no dominant strength make plenty of cuts and very few wins, because winning requires an outlier week somewhere.
What changed
In the winning week the putter turned into the outlier. Everything else did what it always does, and the total was suddenly good enough.
That is the structural reason great short game players win in bursts rather than steadily.
